Ladislav Sitenský – The Road to Freedom
The National Technical Museum commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II with the exhibition "Ladislav Sitenský — The Road to Freedom", which is open to the public from May 7, 2025.
The exhibition pays tribute to one of the most important Czechoslovak photographers of the 20th century and also serves as a reminder of the courage of those who stood up against Nazism. It was created on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and 85 years since the formation of the Czechoslovak air squadrons in Great Britain. It presents one hundred photographs by Ladislav Sitenský, most of which were taken during the war—a time of despair and hopelessness—yet they still speak with humanity. The exhibition is complemented by the photographer’s equipment, including his first camera. A Rolls-Royce Merlin 66 engine from the NTM collection, which powered the legendary Supermarine Spitfire fighter planes, symbolizes the core of the exhibition dedicated to Czechoslovak pilots serving in the British Royal Air Force.
