The Ore and Coal Mine
The Development of Mining from the Paleolithic to the Present.
The pillar of the mining exhibition is the ore and coal mine. The true-to-life model of a mine dates back to the 1950s and its construction began at the end of the 1930s. The corridors of this model mine reach a length of 490 meters in total. The mine is equipped with a unique set of objects from the NTM collection and authentically rendered dioramas. The model mine is equipped with light and sound elements, which are created through the electrification of the original mine lights, carbide lamps and electric safety lamps, all of which are complemented by the noises and sounds of mining activity in the mines. The new concept allows visitors to immerse themselves in a realistic mining environment. The exhibition spaces and corridors of the mines are connected by the area of the Mountain Gaming Hall, which is designed for interactive games and accompanying programs.
Entrance to the mines is only possible with a guide. A tour of the mines can be booked on the tickets.ntm.cz webpage or booked on the day of the tour when buying a ticket at the museum ticket office. The capacity of one tour is 12 visitors. The minimum age for a tour of the mines is 3 years old.
Schools, groups and individuals can also make a reservation in advance at tickets.ntm.cz, with up to a maximum of 12 people per tour.
