Photodocumentation of Mining History

The rich collection is accompanied by extensive photodocumentation on the development of the mining industry, depicting not only the extraction of raw materials but also changes in technology and the lives of miners, the evolution of mining clothing, views of mining towns, industrial architecture, old mining works, portraits of significant engineers and mining researchers, as well as glimpses into various exhibitions and displays with mining themes. The collection of literature summarizes written works related to mining, thus complementing the archives and library collections of the National Technical Museum. It includes company literature, textbooks, mining journals, scientific articles, books, and separate works by prominent Czech mining researchers and geologists (Prof. J. Hrabák, Dr. J. L. Barvíř, Prof. J. Hummel, Dr. L. Kirschner, Prof. F. Pošepný, Prof. J. Jičínský, Dr. J. Kořan, Dr. J. Čechura, Dr. Ing. B. Stočes, Prof. B. Pavlíček, PhDr. J. Majer, CSc., PhDr. Olga Skalníková, Academic Painter J. Čáka, Prof. J. Schenk, and others). The mining collections also include a map collection, particularly from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as partial documentation of uranium mining after 1945.
