Non-Ferrous Metal Metallurgy

Non-ferrous metal metallurgy is one of the oldest manufacturing skills that humans mastered long before the production of iron. The collection of non-ferrous metallurgy is not very extensive. It partially documents the production and processing of lead, antimony, aluminum, zinc, tin, copper, nickel, and some of their alloys. The foundation of the collection consists of collections of raw materials, semi-finished products for forming, and products in the form of bars, strips, and profiles. Among the models of technological equipment, an interesting piece is the model of a Pattinson furnace for separating lead from other metals. The main part of the collection comprises castings made from aluminum alloys for the aerospace and automotive industries. A historically valuable item is a pharmacy bronze mortar from 1689. Noteworthy is the original pressure casting machine for casting objects from non-ferrous metals based on the patent of Engineer Polak, who, with his inventions and the production and export of casting machines in the 1920s and 1930s, contributed to the spread of this now-common technology worldwide.
